PURPOSE OF JOB
Designing, developing, modifying complex SAP applications programs. The responsibilities are primarily technical, although there is a strong element to lead on the development aspects of a small to medium project ensuring that such technical areas are managed and delivered on time and on budget. Combines good interpersonal skills with strong technical skills to deliver consultant level of performance. Demonstrates the ability to lead developments where appropriate but is also a strong team player.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY # 1:
DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Actively leads development aspects of small projects whilst still maintaining a strong development role. Often coordinating the input/contribution from offshore / external developers to ensure a quality overall solution is provided.
Makes diligent checks in the form of leading code and design reviews to maintain quality and system integrity.
Demonstrates the ability to oversee the Development needs on a project, and is able to effectively link together its component parts and see the bigger picture.
Instrumental in leading developers to complete their assigned tasks in the agreed time line. Fostering accountability throughout the team to uphold strong governance in the form of standards, methodology and requirements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY # 2:
DEVELOP SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS
Contributes within the analysis phase and is able to clearly convert requirements into an efficient design and ensures all development work is proportional to the value delivered.
Productivity of c25% higher than an Analyst Programmer standard developer in delivery of solutions, quality (rework) less than 5%.
Extensively promotes and builds re-useable components and exceeds expectations on delivered solutions in view of usability, performance, and functionality.
Takes personal responsibility and ownership for the software products for the specialist areas. Use this specialist knowledge to challenge development opportunities and exploit standard solutions (several examples) With the ability to influence future proof recommendations within a project.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
Encourage knowledge management and promote the Cross-fertilization of ideas and information between teams
Foster other developers to grow and mentor to help ensure overall solutions are delivered.
Establish a strong reputation for being an "expert" (consultant level) in specific areas of expertise.

PLANNING /ESTIMATES / PROGRESS
Demonstrate the ability to work with the Project Manger and plan to the correct level all the development tasks.
Provides accurate estimates, and persistently stretches the capability of the junior team to meet challenging internal targets.
Provides clear development status of tasks and activities to all relevant people on the project.
SUPPORT
Having the ability to balance the project commitment against the support needs of the business. All High/Emergency tickets must be promptly addressed in accordance the Service Level Agreement. Work with the offshore teams when required to do so, especially with regard to Medium/Low tickets making sure effective planning has been carried out to protect project commitments.
PROCESS
Helps identify improvements to process, particularly to enhance visibility, insight & agility.
Is compliant on process disciplines (Project reporting, timesheets, change management)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Desirable: Degree level education in IT related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience/key achievements:
Demonstrate extensive experience, shown themselves as a "leader" in chosen field. Can demonstrate value-add of solutions delivered which often accumulate to more than the of annual salary costs.
Is constantly requested for projects (specifically requested), project work accounts for at least 50% of time. Several project assignments each year successfully concluded.
